Philippa Reed
Trustee
I am proud to be mum of 2 beautiful children, each with different genetic conditions. My son was diagnosed with KS in 2014, at the age of 3, following my daughter’s diagnosis of 22q11 deletion syndrome at 9 months old… fast forward ten years, now me and my family are all passionate about raising awareness and doing all we can to support not just my children but others with genetic conditions.
I decided I wanted to give back to the KSA after experiencing their support first hand and seeing how fabulous their work is. We have learnt SO much from the KSA website and conferences. Both children also had the best time at the activity weekend – seeing how much it meant to my son being around others, just like him, and the support from other families that just ‘get it’ was life changing. It is truly an honour to have recently been voted in as a Trustee and I am looking forward to doing whatever I can to support the KS community.
My previous work experience in the travel industry, as cabin crew, finished after the birth of my eldest child (however I still have a huge love for travelling!) In the years since becoming a mum I have worked in an admin role, including PA work, office administration and marketing. However, more recently I have moved into the NHS where I work in Clinical Admin. I also work as a Health Care Assistant at my local hospital – both equally challenging roles but very rewarding too.
In my spare time, I enjoy nice food, running (to counteract the nice food!) and cuddling my dog but my all-time favourite thing is spending time with my little family and loved ones, usually at our caravan, by the sea in Anglesey!
