Social: London – October 2015

So here’s an account of our highly successful KSA members  social gathering for adults with KS which was expertly organised and well attended on Saturday in London by a total of 11 people!!
The majority of the group met in Starbucks and then went for a successful game of 10-pin bowling. This was followed by a hearty lunch at Gourmet Burger Kitchen and then a stroll around which involved visits to another Starbucks, Patisserie Valerie, M&S, another Starbucks (really!!) so that people could get a cake or dessert of their choice. We then crossed the road to enter Hyde Park for a really great game of frisbee.
This involved many bad throws and catches interspersed with some brilliant throws and catches. Then we played a piggy-in-the-middle style version with occasional bursts of running and jokingly yelling at each other as we competed to pick up the frisbee. It really was great fun all round.
Finally around 6pm as it was starting to get dark, we made our way towards our various stations and trains.
I was delighted to be able to share with the group that the KSA charity has recently received a generous donation. We celebrated this with a cheer and with all the high spirits I decided to give three cheers for the organiser of this great day and this was followed by a few loud verses of ‘for he’s a jolly good fella’. We laughed as we entertained a few passers by with this impromptu ‘performance’.
Whilst most people got their trains, a couple of us made good use of a quick snack in an authentic Chinese eatery before taking a long stroll across London and enjoying a very pleasant chat.
These meets really are an excellent way of engaging with other KS people. I haven’t mentioned above that we also all had really good chats with our KS friends about work, life, relationships, our experience of KS etc.
Sometimes people say that such meets are too far away to travel in the UK to attend. For me the journey took 3 hours to get there and almost the same home but it was totally worth it! I relaxed and read throughout the journey.
Don’t let distance put you off OR how about arranging a meet in your area? We can help you by sharing our experience of how to make these events a success.
Please comment below particularly if you’d like to attend a meeting in your area. Please indicate where you are!
