Information about the 2026 SEND Reforms

The Government has announced proposed national changes to the way support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) may be delivered in the future.

These proposals are often referred to as the “SEND Reforms”.

At this stage, these are proposals — not final decisions.

They are in the consultation stage and further detail will be given before any changes are implemented.

Why This Matters to Families

SEND reforms may affect:

  • How needs are identified
  • The way support is recorded
  • Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • How schools and services work together
  • What information families receive
  • How consistent support is across the country
  • plus other changes in the SEND arena.

The KSA understand that national changes can feel worrying or uncertain. Our role is not to create alarm — but to ensure our members voices are clearly heard.

The Role of the KSA:

  • to gather and evidence lived experiences of individuals with Klinefelter’s Syndrome (XXY) and their families.
  • to ensure the voices of individuals with Klinefelter’s Syndrome (XXY) and their families are clearly represented.

A Calm Approach

There is a lot of information circulating nationally. On this page, we will:

  • Share verified updates
  • Clarify what is confirmed and what is still proposal
  • Explain what changes could mean in practical terms
  • Provide opportunities for families to contribute their views.
  • You do not need to understand every technical detail. We will work to break it down clearly.
